Christmas in New York City
This, is Adel. He worked at the Deli on 6th av corner 27th St. during the first week of our trip. The night I took that picture, he quit his job. I didn’t knew when I took the shot though. And I guess he didn’t knew either. I’ve heard he had got into an argument with his boss that night and decided not to come back.
Even though we had different views on a lot of different things, I liked him a lot. He was offering all the help he could and talked a lot, which is very nice when you try to spend time at 4h in the morning. I really missed him afterward, and I’m glad I had some shots before he left.
Like most people working at the deli, Adel has a wife and children in Egypt, and work seven days a week, twelve hours a day and tried to make his best to go visit as much as possible. He had never seen his youngest child.
